This is the 12-year follow-up of a Dutch multicentre RCT of 252 active patients aged 70 or older with displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures. Patients were randomised to cemented hemiarthroplasty or cemented THA. Patients with advanced hip osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis were excluded. The question was whether THA's theoretical advantages translate into better long-term function, fewer revisions, or lower mortality.
