This is the four-year follow-up of a Stockholm RCT of 120 patients aged 70 to 90 with displaced (Garden III/IV) femoral neck fractures. Patients were cognitively intact, lived independently, and walked independently. They were randomized to cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty or cemented total hip arthroplasty through an anterolateral approach. The question was whether the one-year functional advantage of total hip arthroplasty lasted.
